Much of what I talk about is travel. I am an unapologetic traveler! When SpaceX announced the all-civilian mission to space, my best friend, Chanel, and I discussed whether we would be open to space tourism if the opportunity presented itself. It was an unhesitant "nope."
That doesn't stop me from finding the concept fascinating. So, I was excited to see SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk on The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE). With the expedition set to take off "in the fourth quarter of this year," I was sure he'd discuss this space tourism project.
JRE is one of my favorite podcasts. The authentic conversation style will have even the most unlearned person interested in a diverse subject matter. One of the most famous episodes was a visit by the investor and engineer, So, I was excited to check out his second go at the rodeo.

| Musk smoking Marijuana on JRE in 2018 |
On the first episode with Musk on JRE, there was the marijuana incident where the billionaire toked a fat joint with the comedian. In his second appearance, Musk offered a thorough explanation of how to pronounce his newborn's name. This time didn't have many meme-worthy moments, but a few things caught my attention.
Tic-Tac-No
I am obsessed with Aliens. I know they're real. I know all the famous abduction stories, I am confident I had a siting while abroad (I SAID WHAT I SAID). You can't tell me anything else about the subject.
I was optimistic when the US Government declassified the 'Tic Tac' UFO encounter. A 2004 incident where a Navy Fighter Jet encounters and interacts with an unidentified flying object.
So, when the subject of aliens and "Tic Tac" came up in Episode #1609, I knew Musk would give a good talk. Boy, was I wrong! Musk claims to have no (zero! zilch!) knowledge of the "Tic Tac" incident.
Let me get this straight. A person who spends countless hours studying space exploration and planning a first-of-its-kind leisure space trip never "thinks about aliens." He also does not know about the "Tic Tac" incident, which made headlines. I don't mean to go full conspiracy theorist, but WTF.
Did Musk have something to do with that craft's operation??? I'll calm down, but I thought that was a bit peculiar in the least.
Colonizers Gonna Colonize
So, you know how I feel about space tourism already. Let me reiterate that I have no desire to leave this Earth! Now, these folks are contemplating ongoing travel!
Rogan asked Musk, "how much time before there's regular travel back and forth to mars?"
Musk supposed that the only challenge would be whether we "have enough resources on Mars" to survive if ships could no longer make it back or forth to the world. He feels like this could happen if a natural or human-made disaster occurred.
More intriguing was the parallel that I could draw between the Earthly colonizers and Musk's ideas for taking over space. The Tesla founder admitted that a potential risk was alien life.
If there are "a lot of aliens," he says that could be a challenge. Further, he believes there are no "indications" of alien life.
Well, Mr. Musk, what's your plan if you start to get comfy intergalactically on someone else's land?
What then? Do we kill the lifeforms? Will we disease them?
I could be crazy for hypothesizing about beings from another planet, but I might not be too far off. Sure, the chance of there being a walking, talking, thinking entities on Mars is...unlikely. However, think about living things that are crucial here on Earth. Trees and plant life of important to our livelihood. We do not know what "lifeforms" on Mars are essential to the planet's sustainability.
When we think about exploring land that does not belong to us, this is stuff worth considering. Otherwise, we risk making the same mistakes that colonizers have made here on Earth.
